DAY 00 — HELSINKI ARRIVAL

Arrive at Helsinki.

 

 

DAY 01 — HELSINKI – IVALO – SAARISELKA

Depart for Ivalo.
Arrive Ivalo Airport & Meet the Vehicle Driver of Hotel at the EXIT gate of the Airport Who will guide you to the Hotel.
Check in at “Hotel Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort”
Glass Igloo provides an one of a kind opportunity to admire the northern lights and millions of stars of the crystal clear sky in a comfortable room temperature. Built from a special thermal glass the temperature inside the igloo always stays a normal level. It also prevents the glass from not getting white frosted, hence keeping the view clear even when the temperature outside drops to under -30°C. Every igloo is equipped with a toilet and luxury beds.

 

 

DAY 02 — SAARISELKA

Breakfast at hotel
Check out of Igloo and check in the classic Log cabin – Made of impressively large Kelo pines (trees that once stood dead and dried out) – and designed in a rugged style that fits perfectly with their wild surroundings.
Enjoy the beautiful nature around you with the lost of activities.

 

 

DAY 03 — SAARISELKA

Winter safaris:
HUSKY SAFARIS:
The husky farmer will pick guests up from Kakslauttanen and provide thermal outfits at the farm. Then it is time to meet the friendly and happy dogs who are eagerly waiting in front of the sledges. Every two people will have several dogs in front of their sledge and the husky farmer will give instructions on how to stop, steer and handle the eager dogs, which cannot wait to set off to the snow covered nature. The driver will be standing behind the sledge and the passenger is seated when the dogs spring to start and head to the woods. In half way the husky farmer driving the first sledge halts and it is time to scramble into a hut build by the farmer to enjoy delicious soup lunch and warm up by the fire while the farmer is telling stories of the fast and strong dogs who love running.
REINDEER SAFARI:
The reindeer farmer will pick guests up from Kakslauttanen and provide thermal outfits at the farm. Sit comfortably in the sledge under warm blankets as the reindeer followed by each other’s in a queue set off to the wilderness. Now it is time to relax, breathe the fresh air and enjoy the voices the reindeer’s hooves are making against the snow. From this ride it is easy to take photos of the pure Lappish landscape and identify wild animals and their footsteps on snow. Listen to the trees singing in wind and feel the reindeer in pulling the sledge behind you breathing in cold air. In half way there is time for stretching and posing with reindeer. After the long ride the delicious soup lunch will take place in traditional reindeer herder’s shelter and home, Kota building. Listen to the stories of the reindeer herder and imagine life as a Sami, living in Lapland with his only possession, the reindeer.

AURORA HUNTING BY SNOW MOBILE:
Seeing the Northern light casting their magical glow across the Arctic sky is always an impressive sight, but what makes it truly unforgettable is a special trip to chase this natural phenomenon. Imagine a nocturnal adventure in the wilderness, enjoying the panoramic views from the snow tank’s sleigh, speeding on a snowmobile.

SNOW TANK SAFARIS:
However cold and windy the weather, you'll be warm and comfortable in our enclosed panoramic sleigh, pulled by our unique snow tank. We'll take you across the snowy fells while you take in the beauty of the landscape surrounding you, with a guide to answer all your questions & tell you more about what you are seeing.

HORSE RIDING & SLEIGH RIDES:
Winter horseback riding is worth a try, even if you have no previous experience. Children can also give it a try.

ICEBREAKER SAMPO:
An icebreaker cruise out of the town of Kemi is one of the Finland’s most popular travel attractions, and this nautical experience is within easy reach of Kakslauttanen. Over the course of the day- long trip, you will also have an opportunity to take a dip in the icy bay of Bothnia – in a dry suit.

 

 

DAY 04 — SAARISELKA – ROVANEIMI (Approx 2 ½ hrs Drive)

Today we proceed for Rovaneimi
Check In “Hotel Santa Claus”
Later proceed for visit to Wilderness snowmobile safari. Enjoy the great outdoors on this safari to the heart of nature. The trail traverses rugged fells and narrow valleys before coming to the first stop, where you have the chance to try ice fishing and snowshoe walking. You’ll then continue onwards through the forest –perhaps coming across a herd of reindeer searching for their favourite food, moss and lichen, buried under as much as one metre of snow. Keep your eyes out for other forest animals searching for food! The weather in Lapland can change quickly – ranging from cold, blizzard conditions to sunshine over crisp and clean snow – the snowmobile trail we will follow may change accordingly. DURATION: 5 - 6 hours

 

 

DAY 05 — ROVANIEMI

Depart for Santaclaus village & Arctic Circle Tour (Optional)
You can meet Santa Claus and cross the magical Arctic Circle every day at the Santa Claus Village in Lapland in Finland. When Santa Claus declared Rovaniemi as his hometown, he told how his home at Ear Mountain (Korvatunturi) was revealed at the beginning of the last century and how this closely guarded secret spread the world over. In order to retain the privacy of his secret location, the Elf folk decided to build a place where Santa could meet people from near and far at the Northern Arctic Circle. Santa Claus spends his time at the Santa Claus Village every day of the year to take care of his mission in life; to enhance the wellbeing of children and the kindness of grown-ups, as well as spreading the message love and goodwill of Christmas Spirit throughout the globe.

 

 

DAY 06 — ROVANIEMI – HELSINKI

Check out and proceed to airport for flight to Helsinki.
Check in at the hotel.
Day is free at leisure

 

 

DAY 07 — HELSINKI

Breakfast at hotel.
Day is free.

City tour (OPTIONAL)
The city sightseeing tour takes in the most important and interesting parts of Helsinki, such as the historical centre and the diplomatic quarters. En route you will see sights including, Senate Square, Lutheran Cathedral, Uspenski Cathedral, the Presidential Palace, City Hall, the Parliament building, Finlandia Hall and the Opera House. We also make a stop at the 'Sibelius Monument and Temppeliaukio Church.

 

 

DAY 08 — HELSINKI – MUMBAI

Breakfast at hotel
Check out from Hotel and proceed to airport
Board your flight back for Mumbai.
